Pledge to Keep Your Pool Safe This Summer
Pool Safety
Summer is upon us, and while the months of May to September bring an endless amount of energy from our children, they also bring the hazards of one of our favorite summertime activities — swimming. Join Texas Swim Academy this May as we take the Pool Safely Pledge to help reduce drownings and entrapments in backyard swimming pools and spas.
Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day is notoriously known as drowning season. With so many water-based activities in full effect, it’s prime season for children and families to be in and around the pool. Sadly, it takes less than a minute for tragedy to occur, but there are so many ways in which you can prepare yourself and your children for a summer of fun and safe times in the water.
Pool Safely
Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in children ages 1 to 4. As of mid-May, 22 children in Texas have died due to drowning so far in 2018. When you make the commitment to give your child the lifesaving skills necessary to be safe in the water starting at a young age, you’re giving them a priceless gift.
We continue to be proud partners of the Pool Safely national initiative and are excited to share this pledge with you. By joining us and taking the pledge, you are making a commitment to:
- Ensure your children know how to swim
- Learn CPR as a parent or guardian
- Always remove portable ladders when not in use
- Ensure all permanent pools have the proper safety fence, gate and safer drain covers
- Designate a water watcher every single time any child is in or near the water
In order to uphold our end of the Pool Safely pledge, we offer a number of programs for children of all ages designed to promote safety, confidence and a lifetime of fun. Not only are our instructors well-trained specialists, they are passionate about giving our students a wonderful experience that fosters a lifelong passion for water-based activities. From our infant survival swim course to group lessons, swim stroke development and adaptive aquatics, we have something for everyone.
Free Water Watcher Tags
As a part of the Pool Safely initiative, Texas Swim Academy also carries free Water Watcher lanyards when you stop by the front office. These lanyards are an excellent resource for any family who owns a pool or is often near water, as they are to be worn by the adult who is in charge of watching the kids while they are in the water. The wearer of the lanyard leaves no question to those in, and out of, the water who is designated to be watching the kids, so there is someone always keeping the area safe for those in and around the water.
Be sure to contact us today to learn more about our swimming programs and pick up your free Water Watcher lanyard. And join us in signing the Pool Safely Pledge to give our children a safe and enjoyable time in the water.
When we work together, we can make a difference.
