Swimming exercises your entire body at one time. It is an excellent way to get in a good cardio workout without putting unnecessary strain on your joints. There is little risk for injury, and swimming can enhance your strength, endurance, flexibility and confidence. Beyond that, it is a great activity for people of all ages, even infants and toddlers. Swimming in Cypress, Katy and Houston is a perfect sport.

Swimming Before Walking

Thanks to Survival Swim, you can have your children familiar with the water before their first birthday. Experts agree that this is an optimal time to start this lifelong activity because babies still possess important natural reflexes that can aid in their learning. Teaching water safety and survival skills at a young age could save your child’s live in the event of an accidental fall into a pool or other body of water. While this is a major incentive to get kids into the pool as soon as possible, there are also other benefits that make this a great activity for young children. They learn to trust themselves as well as their instructors, become more confident and make connections with other children who share their love of the water.

Not Just a Hobby

Swimming is a great recreational activity, but many people who consider themselves avid swimmers are truly passionate about the sport. Swimming can also be relaxing and peaceful. Both children and adults who love swimming have the opportunity to do more with the sport. There are an abundance of swimming competitions and endurance events. Young swimmers who are particularly skilled might find themselves on elite teams, winning scholarships and opening doors for their future.

Great for Aging Bodies

As the body ages, high impact activities are much more stressful. This does not mean that someone in their eighties could not complete a triathlon, but the fact remains—many older members of society need a low impact way to stay active. Swimming is the perfect solution. Just as you are never too young to fall in love with swimming, you are never too old either. This is not an activity that you will have to stop participating in just because of age.

The Social Aspect

Making connections and building friendships is important. The friends that you make in your swimming circle will share your same passion for the water through life. You will find yourselves coming together to destress, compete or just have a great time at the pool.
