Since opening, Texas Swim Academy has been dedicated to providing water safety and survival skills to children of all abilities, and that’s why we are proud to take part in the 1st Annual Special Needs Resource Fair at the We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym on Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This family-friendly day at the sensory-safe gym is a great opportunity for families to meet with local vendors to get more information about special needs resources while enjoying music and delicious food.

Be sure to visit our booth to learn more about our Adaptive Aquatics program, which is designed to teach life-saving skills to children of all ages and abilities while helping them embrace their natural affinity with water in a safe and beneficial way. Our instructors are trained by leading experts in autism swim instruction to communicate effectively with swimmers on the autism spectrum.

“Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in all ages of people with autism,” says Kathleen McMordie, owner of Texas Swim Academy. “This is preventable, and we are passionate about changing that statistic.”

At Texas Swim Academy, we create a calm, patient and reassuring atmosphere suited to the individual needs and abilities of each swimmer, and we are proud to offer such a program that can be tailored to meet individual needs. We believe that with enough consistency, patience and compassion, every student can learn these valuable skills and build confidence in the water.

Be sure to learn more about our Adaptive Aquatics program and why we’re so passionate about ensuring all children get the opportunity to learn these valuable skills. The We Rock The Spectrum Kid’s Gym is located at 2020 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road in Katy. If you know of any families that could benefit from our Adaptive Aquatics program or other local special needs resources, be sure to invite them to the event!
