Haircuts That Make a Difference

When Jelly Robinson moved to Houston in 2014, she was excited to explore the city and experience all the different cultures. With previous experience in children’s haircuts throughout her time in hair school, she figured working in a children’s salon would be ideal. And it was…until she realized something was missing. 

“It was missing love,” Jelly says. “Even though I was able to provide haircuts for families, I was unable to build connections with them. I knew that when I owned my own salon, it would bleed Peace & Love.” And that’s just what Jelly did. 

What Is Peace & Love Studios?

While Jelly continued her work at the children’s salon, she was introduced to providing hair cutting services to the autistic community. After taking her initial required educational courses, she set out to learn more about the community, specifically sensory processing and what haircuts looked like for the special needs community. 

Jelly began to field questions from parents looking for services outside of the salon setting, which set off a passion to do more. She traveled to therapists’ offices, schools and homes, ultimately finding out that these kids needed more than what they were getting when it came to their haircuts. 

And so Jelly set out to open Peace & Love Studios, an all-inclusive mobile salon that provides infinite patience and understanding to everyone, especially the special needs community, during their salon experience. 

“My number one goal was creating an untraditional salon environment for my special clients to call their own,” says Jelly. “My overall mission is to change the negative narrative around haircuts for kids in the salon industry. I strive to provide each family with a piece of mind when they visit for their haircut.”

How It Works

Those who have had challenging experiences during previous haircuts are encouraged to fill out the Challenge Accepted Program questionnaire to ensure a positive experience for all those involved.

“What I want for families who may be hesitant because of prior experiences, [is to] look at their haircare journey as a positive one,” adds Jelly. “What makes us different at Peace & Love Studios is not what we say to keep our clients, but how special we make them feel.”

SWIM SCHOOL IN KATY 

Texas Swim Academy is a state-of-the-art swimming facility offering water safety, survival swim, and kids swimming lessons in Katy, Texas. Owners Kathleen and Bruce McMordie, alongside our certified staff, help parents introduce children to water at an early age through the Infant Survival Swim Program , teaching life-saving techniques and basic swimming skills.

Our Stroke Development Program offers six different levels to help students progress in their swimming skills at his or her own pace.
