Texas Swim Academy is gearing up for another fall season! As always, our facility and staff are dedicated to providing the best swim instruction and guidance available for your child to achieve success!
Each one of our programs is personalized to meet individual needs. In this guide, we will introduce all the swimming programs available at Texas Swim Academy for the fall, as well as new programs to look out for in this upcoming school year.
Survival Swim is our most well known infant swim program perfect for children as young as six months old to 4 years old. This program teaches a comprehensive and critical set skills to survive in the water. This is not a parent and child swim class, but a class that provides a one-on-one class structure where an instructor will introduce your child to the water to them become acclimated and comfortable. Once your child feels comfortable, he or she will learn how to roll-back-to-float and take a breath.
Depending on your child’s age, they may even start to learn how to swim. This class is where your child will not only learn basic skills to save their life in the event of an accidental plunge in the water, but one where they can establish a foundation that will make them a strong, confident swimmer for years to come.
For students who would like to build proficiency in swimming, Texas Swim Academy offers a Stroke Development program that is broken down to six different levels of classes. Each student in this program will learn essential swim skills that serve as building blocks and bridges to next level swim skills. Each student also has the opportunity to learn at his or her own pace and there is no time limit for completion of each level. We believe that swimming is a lifelong activity and we strive to provide every child with the resources and the time they need to be successful and independent in the water.
Texas Swim Academy group lessons are the perfect environment for new and developing swimmers, or rigorous learning for advanced swimmers. Classes have a low student to instructor ratio, which provides swimmers with ample guidance in the water. Students who are 4 years or older who are comfortable going underwater, swimming at least 15 feet unassisted, taking a breath, and floating by themselves may enroll in Group Lessons. Children who are not quite ready to enroll in Group Lessons can begin private lessons first and progress to Group Lessons once they have reached a level of proficiency and comfort in the water.
At Texas Swim Academy, we are dedicated to working with all swimmers, no matter their age, skill level, needs, or challenges. Adaptive Aquatics is a program specially designed for students on the autism spectrum or students with special abilities. Adaptive Aquatics is very similar to Survival Swim℠ program, in that it uses the same methods of teaching. In addition to this, instructors create an encouraging environment to teach students how to swim, float, and swim in that progression. Depending on the child’s individual needs, trained instructors will adjust the approach and layout to support those needs and create a comfortable environment for the student to thrive.
The start of the school year is a great time for your competitive swimmer to enroll in our Pre-Competition program. Whether your child is just starting to swim competitively or if they would like to improve their skills before their next big competition, this program will prepare them for success. In the Pre-Competition program, students do not compete against each other. Rather, swimmers will be introduced to flip turns and work to improve individual swim times. Students who enroll in this program should already know the four basic swim strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. A 5-10 minute assessment will be required prior to enrollment.
No matter a student’s age or skill level, we believe it’s important for everyone to learn how to swim! Texas Swim Academy is proud to provide both group and private adult swim lessons that are tailored to individual needs and goals. Adult lessons can range from beginner level to more advanced stroke development, to even triathlon training! No matter your goal, we offer an opportunity for swimmers to overcome fears, feel more comfortable and confident in the water, and advance his or her fitness level. Lessons are scheduled depending on student and facility availability.
Youth Triathlon Training
Texas Swim Academy is partnered with the Katy Fury Tri Team to provide a youth triathlon training program for children ages 3-14. Since youth training for a triathlon is much different from adult triathlon training, this program offers a safe, fun, approachable way for your child to train safely and avoid injuries. Children enrolled in this program will learn how to safely and effectively transition between each leg. All swimming practices will be held at Texas Swim Academy. Each training session lasts 2 months. Session 5 will start on September 1, 2015.
Every Friday starting September 26, 2015 will be Fun Friday at Texas Swim Academy! Fun Fridays allow Texas Swim Academy swimmers and parents to have fun together in the water. This is an unstructured, fun swim time that gives students the opportunity to practice swim skills in a comfortable, indoor, heated swimming pool. This event is open to all students enrolled in Texas Swim Academy programs.
NEW PROGRAM: Homeschool P.E.
Introducing Texas Swim Academy’s newest program, Homeschool P.E., a home school physical education program that is specifically designed to establish for physical fitness, flexibility and fun. This program meets two days per week for 1-hour long sessions. Students will have a dry land warm up followed by time in the pool. This is not a swim skill acquisition class, but one that builds strength and endurance. In addition, this program gives students the chance to meet new friends and build social skills. The program will be taught by encouraging, professional instructors that will help your child build a foundation for a healthy mind and body. Please give us a call to learn more about this program!
