Texas Swim Academy is gearing up for another fall season! As always, our facility and staff are dedicated to providing the best swim instruction and guidance available for your child to achieve success!

Each one of our programs is personalized to meet individual needs. In this guide, we will introduce all the swimming programs available at Texas Swim Academy for the fall, as well as new programs to look out for in this upcoming school year.

Survival Swim

Survival Swim is our most well known infant swim program perfect for children as young as six months old to 4 years old. This program teaches a comprehensive and critical set skills to survive in the water. This is not a parent and child swim class, but a class that provides a one-on-one class structure where an instructor will introduce your child to the water to them become acclimated and comfortable. Once your child feels comfortable, he or she will learn how to roll-back-to-float and take a breath.

Depending on your child’s age, they may even start to learn how to swim. This class is where your child will not only learn basic skills to save their life in the event of an accidental plunge in the water, but one where they can establish a foundation that will make them a strong, confident swimmer for years to come.

Stroke Development

For students who would like to build proficiency in swimming, Texas Swim Academy offers a Stroke Development program that is broken down to six different levels of classes. Each student in this program will learn essential swim skills that serve as building blocks and bridges to next level swim skills. Each student also has the opportunity to learn at his or her own pace and there is no time limit for completion of each level. We believe that swimming is a lifelong activity and we strive to provide every child with the resources and the time they need to be successful and independent in the water.

Group Lessons

Texas Swim Academy group lessons are the perfect environment for new and developing swimmers, or rigorous learning for advanced swimmers. Classes have a low student to instructor ratio, which provides swimmers with ample guidance in the water. Students who are 4 years or older who are comfortable going underwater, swimming at least 15 feet unassisted, taking a breath, and floating by themselves may enroll in Group Lessons. Children who are not quite ready to enroll in Group Lessons can begin private lessons first and progress to Group Lessons once they have reached a level of proficiency and comfort in the water.

Adaptive Aquatics

At Texas Swim Academy, we are dedicated to working with all swimmers, no matter their age, skill level, needs, or challenges. Adaptive Aquatics is a program specially designed for students on the autism spectrum or students with special abilities. Adaptive Aquatics is very similar to Survival Swim program, in that it uses the same methods of teaching. In addition to this, instructors create an encouraging environment to teach students how to swim, float, and swim in that progression. Depending on the child’s individual needs, trained instructors will adjust the approach and layout to support those needs and create a comfortable environment for the student to thrive.

Pre-Competition

The start of the school year is a great time for your competitive swimmer to enroll in our Pre-Competition program. Whether your child is just starting to swim competitively or if they would like to improve their skills before their next big competition, this program will prepare them for success. In the Pre-Competition program, students do not compete against each other. Rather, swimmers will be introduced to flip turns and work to improve individual swim times. Students who enroll in this program should already know the four basic swim strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. A 5-10 minute assessment will be required prior to enrollment.

Children enrolled in this program will learn how to safely and effectively transition between each leg. All swimming practices will be held at Texas Swim Academy. Each training session lasts 2 months. Session 5 will start on September 1, 2015.
